Helicopter Noise Meeting

January 2, 2016 |

On 16 December the county held a public meeting to address helicopter noise. Organized by County Board member Libby Garvey, it was a very productive evening with presentations by FAA, Coast Guard, Army, Air Force, and Marines. Panelists elaborated on routes and zones, ceilings and missions, Ospreys and Blackhawks. Residents told about specific issues and got respectful responses. There appears to be more understanding on both sides now, and the possibility of improvement.

The Crystal City Civic Association has already received an assurance from the Coast Guard commander that fewer of the orange Coast Guard helicopters would be passing near the apartment and condo buildings in Crystal City.

Anyone with interest or input should get on Libby’s email list lgarvey@arlingtonva.us. For more detailed information, check out a video of the meeting at http://departments.arlingtonva.us/cmo/airport-noise/
