Request to Advertise General Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance Amendments for the Missing Middle Housing Study – Item 33A-B The Board will consider a Request to Advertise (RTA) public hearings by the Planning Commission and County Board on the General Land Use Plan (GLUP) and Zoning Ordinance Amendments for Missing Middle Housing. County staff has developed draft text and amendments that would expand housing options in R-5 through R-20 residential zoning districts using the same building requirements for height, lot coverage, and setbacks that currently exist for single-family detached houses. Last fall, the Planning Commission and its committees held six meetings to review the draft text and amendments. This led to many updates and refinements that staff will present to the County Board, including a range of options on topics such as the maximum number of housing units allowed per lot, minimum site area for development, and parking requirements.
