SUMMARY:AHCA APRIL MEETING
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next monthly meeting\, Wednesday\, April 12 at 7 p.m\, Aurora Hills Library\, Back Room. \nRefreshments provided by Nando’s PERi-PERi at 6:45! \nCome early for refreshments and socializing! Doors open at 6:30. \nMeeting Agenda \n\nSin & Saint. This new neighborhood establishment\, in the former Grill Kabob location at 23rd and Eads\, has applied for a use permit for a Deejay and dancing on Fridays and Saturdays. The applicant and County staff will be at the meeting to discuss the application and answer questions.\nVirginia Highlands Park Renovation. Arlington’s Capital Improvement Plan included funding to begin public outreach in anticipation of west-side park renovations (everything west of the soccer fields). Parks & Rec staff will be at our meeting to talk about the best way to engage the community in the redesign process (funding is not yet available for the design). It was only a year ago that the newly renovated east side reopened after a frustrating public engagement process that left many feeling that community input had been disregarded. Please come and let DPR know how you feel about the park and how you want them to get public input.\nChristian Dorsey. One of the two newest members of the County Board\, Mr. Dorsey will be at the meeting to talk about his priorities\, hear about yours\, and listen to the DPR’s presentation on Virginia Highland Park. Come with your questions.

SUMMARY:School Board Primary Candidates Forum
DESCRIPTION:Arlington Public Schools is projected to reach 40\,000 students by 2030 and the system does not have enough seats for the 26\,000 students enrolled today. The health of Arlington’s school system is in jeopardy and three candidates for one open seat on the School Board will be competing in a Democratic Primary in May for the right to appear on the ballot in November. The three candidates are: \n\nJames Lander (incumbent)\nMaura McMahon\nMonique O’Grady\n\nThe Arlington Ridge Civic Association\, in conjunction with the Crystal City and Aurora Highlands Civic Associations\, will be hosting a forum which will give you the opportunity to learn how each of these candidates proposes to solve the overcrowding problems we are currently experiencing\, problems that will become severe in the coming decade\, both here in 22202 and throughout the County. \nIf you have questions about capacity\, redistricting\, assessments & testing\, block scheduling\, school options\, transfer policies or any other issue affecting students of all ages residing in the Oakridge Elementary School boundary\, plan to attend. You should also attend if you simply own a home whose value will be affected by the quality of the education your neighbors’ children will receive in the coming years. \nDate: Thursday\, March 16th at 7:00pm\nLocation: Oakridge Elementary School\nRSVP & Submit Questions in Advance: https://goo.gl/forms/C3KOqsec2gMw7rCf2 \n
