River House Re-zoning

Vornado, owner of the 37-acre River House complex on Joyce Street has just filed an application with the County to rezone its 37 acres from Residential (RA6-15) to Commercial (CO 1.5) which would allow it to construct four new buildings on its property containing an additional 1,083 apartments together with ground-floor retail fronting on Joyce Street across from Pentagon Row.  Vornado plans to build a free standing apartment building dedicated solely to affordable housing. This affordable housing apartment building will be built on the grass space in front of the third River House building (the Ashley). This is the building across from the softball field on Joyce and behind 16th Street South
