SPRC: Potomac Yard Land Bay C East

The Arlington County Planning Commission hosted two virtual SPRC meetings on the plan to build two mixed-use buildings in the Potomac Yard Land Bay-C between 29th and 33rd Street S.

While this site is not directly located within the Aurora Highlands neighborhood, there are several aspects of this project that are notable for our broader community to track – environmental sustainability being applied to the construction of the buildings (goal is to have the buildings built to LEED Gold standard), open space and tree canopy applied throughout the property, bike lane enhancements along Potomac Avenue, enhanced pedestrian experience connecting Route 1 through Crystal Drive to Potomac Avenue, potential for more affordable housing and density, and so.

The second – and final – SPRC meeting for this site was held on March 1.  Topics covered included project updates, transportation, open space, community benefits, and construction.  The meeting recording is here.  All documents, slide sets, and presentations are available through the project website: https://projects.arlingtonva.us/projects/potomac-yard-land-bay-c-east/  This is a great residential project.

With the Site Plan Review Process concluded, and public comments compiled, the next step for this project will be to go through the Planning Commission review prior to the Arlington County Board reviewing the project for approval sometime in the next few months.
