You are invited to experience Impulse, an interactive work comprising a series of 15 seesaws that emit light and sound that changes when in motion, creating an ever-changing experience. By playing on the seesaws, you create a dynamic light and sound wave giving a pulse of warmth to the winter’s short days and dark nights.

Impulse, located at The Grounds in Crystal City, will be free and open to the public starting on Friday, December 7th with an opening reception from 4-8pm, and will be open from 11am – 8pm (10pm on Fridays and Saturdays) every day until Monday, January 7th.

**ABOUT IMPULSE**
Impulse embodies ideas of serialism, repetition, and variation to produce zones of intensity and calm. It is an ever-changing urban event and an instrument in which the public becomes the musicians and artists. It was first presented as part of Luminothérapie, in 2015-2016, at the Place des Festivals in the Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal.

**ABOUT THE CREATORS**
Impulse was created by the Toronto based firm Lateral Office and CS Design, in collaboration with EGP Group. With Mitchell Akiyama as the sound design, Generique Design as the Mechanical design and fabrication, and Robocut Studio as the Electronic design and fabrication.

**ABOUT THE GROUNDS**
The Grounds is a new art and public space activation where Crystal City and Pentagon City meet, sponsored by the Crystal City Business Improvement District and LCOR. The BID has a long history of repurposing parking for unique and engaging events and activities.

This newly repurposed parking lot will provide residents, workers and visitors a fun and beautiful space to play and enjoy along a rapidly developing corridor that connects Crystal City and Pentagon City.

The “Let’s Play” mural was designed and created by No Kings Collective.
