VDOT Route 1 Multimodal Feasibility Study
Virtually Share Your Thoughts about the VDOT Route 1 Study (Wednesday, December 16, 6:30 PM)
In order to meet the changing transportation needs of our growing neighborhood, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking to identify improved multimodal connectivity and accommodations along and across Route 1. The VDOT Route 1 Multimodal Feasibility Study will explore options to convert Route 1 from 12th to 23rd Streets to an at-grade urban boulevard or improve the current elevated urban boulevard as described in the Crystal City Sector Plan. Ultimately, the study aims to provide sufficient information to make the best decision on the future project on Route 1 in 22202.
As part of the study, VDOT is seeking public input. The first public engagement was an online survey earlier this fall (slides and minutes from that VDOT task force meeting are here). The second will be a virtual “workshop” on December 16 at 6:30 PM. The December virtual meeting will provide an opportunity for our community to review existing conditions, hear about the VDOT public survey response, and provide input on the study. Register for the virtual meeting through this link. Comments are due December 28, 2020; the online comment form is here. The third public engagement will be held in the spring of 2021.
