Next, VOTE!  You have three options for voting:  absentee by mail, early voting, or in-person voting in your precinct on Election Day, November 3.

Absentee by Mail

Request your absentee by mail ballot through this link:  https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation.  County staff will begin to mail out requested absentee ballots on September 18.  After you have received and filled out your absentee ballot and paperwork and sealed everything in the correct envelope, you can either mail it back or drop it in a drop box https://vote.arlingtonva.us/ballot-drop-off/   The County will add and list additional drop-off locations in September.    Deadlines:  Make sure you return your completed ballot and envelope at least 10 days before November 3!  Deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is Friday, October 23, 2020. Your request must be received by your Registrar by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day.  However, please request – and return – your absentee ballot long before these deadlines to ensure it will be received in time to be counted.  But don’t worry, if you lost your absentee ballot or didn’t have a chance to complete it in time, just bring the ballot mailing to your precinct on Election Day and you can vote in person when you turn it in.

Early Voting:  Virginia now has no-excuse-needed early voting, starting September 18 in the lobby of the Bozman Government Center, 2100 Clarendon Boulevard.  Satellite sites, including the Aurora Hills Community Center, will be added.  Note you can vote at any early voting site in Arlington!   Stay tuned for details.

Vote In-Person on Election Day, November 3, 2020, in your precinct:  All County precincts, including the eight in 22202, will be open for in-person voting on Election Day.  Curbside voting will be available to those voters who are eligible.  Follow this link to find your precinct to vote on Election Day: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation Select Find My Polling Place.

ID requirements have changed:

Whether you vote early or vote in-person on Election Day, please bring an acceptable ID with you.  Note that the Virginia law has changed, again, and many types of IDs that were not acceptable in recent elections are again acceptable, such as your voter registration card, a utility bill with your current name and address, or any current photo ID from an American college or university.  Out-of-state drivers’ licenses are still NOT acceptable, however.  And any registered voter who does not possess one of the acceptable forms of ID, may sign an ID Confirmation Statement (formerly an Affirmation of Identity form – remember those?).
