Another potential redevelopment in Pentagon City across from the mall.

[ 0 ] April 23, 2019 |

ARLnow is reporting another development proposal submitted for our neighborhood.

This would replace two ‘secure’ office buildings on 12th street across from Metro with four buildings. Two existing buildings closer to Army Navy drive would remain (Arlington is expected to pay the DEA $11.5m this month to sign a new 15 year lease to stay in one of those buildings).

This is just an initial proposal with no details yet; based on pictures, it appears to suggest a doubling of space, with the same amount of commercial and an extra 600 residential units.

There is some question about how this would be possible given all the other potential development without violating aspects of the Pentagon City Phased Development Plan, which is intended to guide development in a way that improves the livability of the area. The last time the plan was holistically reviewed was 1997.
