Arlington’s open space is now open in to the public. However, facilities such as courts, playgrounds, dog parks, picnic shelters, and organized sports play are NOT allowed.

The County is asking for the community’s help in maintaining social distancing. “We need the community’s help in practicing safety guidelines so we can keep our parks open, and to allow staff the necessary time to prepare to open even more facilities and programs, when it’s safe to do so,” said Parks & Recreation Director Jane Rudolph. “As long as the community stays safe, we can stay open.”

Sunday Fun Day

Virginia Highlands Park has lots of space to spread out. Social distancing ideas for the park

  • Bring your paper and paint or draw
  • Picnic
  • Read books and do crossword puzzles

Monday Food Trucks & Picnic

Have a picnic and pick up some delicious food to enjoy in the park! Even with extensive social distancing, the field space can easily accommodate hundreds of groups.

Monday May 25th between 11am-4pm

Both the Mana (Hawaiian) and funnel cake food trucks will be at Virginia Highlands Park at the corner of 15th & Joyce Streets near the softball fields for your to-go orders.

Mana has revised their menu and added the MANA Dog as a brand new item debuting for us.

They allot 5 orders per 15 minutes, so they may adjust the time requested. When they get your order, they will send you an invoice through which you can pay and complete the order. They will be turning off pre-orders at midnight tonight, but will be taking all walk ups tomorrow as well.

Safety First!

Park visitors are asked to adhere to the physical distancing and small group guidelines – keep at least six feet of distance from others and groups should not exceed 10 people. Don’t use any closed park amenities. Face masks in public are recommended where proper distancing is not possible. Don’t use parks if you are sick or recently exposed to COVID-19.
