Aurora Highlands and Crystal City Civic Associations sent the following letter to the County urging more action to address traffic issues related to the TNC lot between Eads and Route 1. Representatives from both Civic Associations have been participating in meetings with the County and MWAA, and while a number of improvements have been implemented, the most recent meeting suggested further improvements may be stalled.

A proposed change to the zoning ordinance would allow large signs up to 55 feet, up from 40 feet in the current ordinance. Signs would still require approval and various requirements on placement and visibility from residential zones. The ordinance would apply to “urban regional shopping centers”, which currently includes Pentagon City Fashion Centre and Ballston Quarter.
A proposed change would lower the speed limit from 30/35mph to the county-wide default of 25mph along South Hayes Street from the mall, past the park and fire station, up to Crystal Towers at Fern St.
Aurora Highlands residents are invited to the April 3 meeting of the Crystal City Civic Association. An Amazon representative will share Amazon’s plans to be a “goodneighbor” to our 22202 residents. Come welcome them and ask questions.
